Mmboneni Esther Netshivhongweni

Executive Summary 

A post-graduate of University of Venda and University of South Africa – School of Business Leadership, who holds Bachelor of Commerce, Honours Bachelor of Commerce, Master’s degree in Commerce and; Post-graduate Professional Management and Advance Professional Management Diplomas. Esther studied International finance in Singapore with Singapore Institute of Banking and Finance. She is currently pursuing PhD studies with University of Nottingham. She has over 23 years of management consulting experience with 21 years in executive management with various organisations. She has 15 years’ experience in community development in the international conservation sector. She has proven effective community engagement skills in the conservation sector for communities around the Kruger National Park of South Africa.  

Esther currently chairs the Global Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Advisory Panel for the Biodiversity Credit Alliance. She is a member and a Panelist of the Biodiversity Credit Alliance Task Force and Biodiversity Credit Alliance Forum respectively on behalf of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities. She is the Co-Chair of the Southern African Development Community for the Global River Protection Coalition.

She is currently the Chairperson of Community Association of South Africa in Natural Resources (CASA-Natural Resources). She is currently serving of the Independent Advisory Panel for Biodiversity (IAPB) – www.iapb.org Working Groups Governance, Benefits and Measurements and Metrics. She is a Co-Lead of the Biodiversity Credit Alliance www.biodiversitycreditalliance.org for the Demand Integrity Working Group.
